I spent the other weekend attending the El Dorado Community Vision Coalition Mardi Gras themed gala fundraiser for healthy, safe, drug-free youth. The party was held at the at Mercedes Benz of El Dorado Hills. Mark  S. Allen from Mark at the Movies was the MC and he was nothing short of pure entertainment! The evening included Cajun food, lots of dancing thanks to music from Gator Beat Band (a zydeco band) and an array of fun and fruity  libations like Hurricanes and Mai Tais. I cannot complain on the VIP treatment as we had our own reserved table as well thank you to Innerwork Mortgage!! As you can see from the pictures below, we had a pretty good time!

Being Responsible

My friend Carrie (as are many of my friends… I do pick some pretty kick ass friends) is pretty exceptional. As Dominic would say, “she’s America’s sweetheart”. She spends her time working for the nonprofit For One Another Foundation which focuses on providing clean drinking water and the education on how to live a healthier life to very  deserving people. They specialize in bring water filtration systems to orphanages, clinics, schools and small communities. I had the privilege to to create a video promote their upcoming project to Uganda, Africa. Months and months ago a friend said “Hey let’s see if we can get Josh Flagg to come speak to us.” No joke… that was just about what he said. I loved the idea as I am a huge fan of the show Million Dollar Listing on the Bravo Network. So fast forward a few months and with lots of planning from the YPN (Young Professionals Network) team we put on “The Josh Flagg Experience”. 

With over 250+ people, it was a packed house listening to the most enteraining Josh speak.

The evening before a few of us had a small dinner with Josh and Colton at La Provance in Roseville.

We had the whole private back room to ourselves and it really gave us a chance to get to know the two on a more personal level. I certainly say this is where my love for the boys turned into an obsession! I’ll admit that I told Colton I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me.

Overall it was a great few days and we all had a blast with Josh and Colton. I think next time we will have to head down their direction for a visit!

Over the past few months I have helped organize and will be volunteering for a fundraiser to support a very special girl.  Long story short Brittany has spent the past 5 years dealing with seizures, ulcers, blood clots, allergic reactions to the antibiotics and pills upward of 27 a day, anemia, kidney issues, gastroenterologists, cardiologists, gastric bypass, pancreatitis, extended hospital stays… and the list goes on yet the doctors still do not have an answer to what is causing all of this.

My friend, Charlie Espinosa, asked Brittany and her family to join his martial arts studio West Coast Martial Arts as a way to help deal with this stress, surround them with positive people and truly give Brittany an avenue where she could thrive.

As you can imagine the medical bills are pouring in. There is no end in site for the treatments to stop, so help is needed. Brittany’s Day is an opportunity to bring the community together and help a girl in need…even if it is one step at a time.

Brittany is an amazing girl who continues to fight daily… and I’m am excited to be a small part of that fight!

Our night began with a knock on the door from our limo driver…THANK GOD we were actually ready… the girls that is.   As you can see in the beginning of the video I gave a little shout of to all of the AMAZING people that made the night possible. Well, my brain works way way way faster than my mouth… I think that is why I talk so fast. I totally did not realize I jumbled up the words my first go around. Well…after that I kept making everyone count down and then say “action” before I started talking…which would just make me laugh. It is actually making me laugh right now thinking about it…. which is weird because I’m home alone and now I feel like a big dork! HAHAH! Back on track here….  The whole night honestly was nothing but laughs. From my door step to Morton’s Steakhouse I think I scared everyone by attempting to rap like T-Pain (you’ll see that in the video but thankfully not be able to hear me! I thought I rocked “I’m on a boat” with the help of T-Pain iPhone app. Just as I was diving in to my story about how I named my Roomba vacuum Chuy after Chelsea Handler’s little Nugget (yes… I love Chelsea Handler) we arrived at Morton’s where we had one of the best dinners ever. Our server was the cutest most attentive girl and could not have been nicer. The Manager even gave us deserts to go… (HUGE BONUS POINTS IN MY BOOK…as I ate those late night)! Once we got to Sacramento Punchline we were escorted past a long line of people that wrapped around the corner and right to the entrance door and taken to our VIP seats. Honestly… it was non stop fun where the night kept getting better and better!

I (and I know I speak for all of us) again would like to give a big thank you to SacramentoComedy.Com, Morton’s Steakhouse, and the Sacramento Punchline. It truly was A Night to Remember and one I (we) will never forget.

PS: We would be happy to go again any time… I’m sure I can round up a group of fun friends! HEHEHEHE.

Yesterday was just a normal Wednesday until I received some AMAZING news….. I won the “A Night To Remember” contest. This is the first contest sponsored by SacramentoComedy.Com, Morton’s Steakhouse and the Sacramento Punchline.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE comedy shows! And who does not love Morton’s? And to top it all of… we will be driven around in style all night long??? I will not want this night to end. I will get to take 3 of my closest friends along with me on this rockin’ evening. Needless to say, I was doing the HAPPY DANCE and annoying everyone around when I found out.

So this Saturday I’ll be crusin’ VIP style to Sacramento’s Punchline to see MadTv star, Bobby Lee perform. I’ll be sure to vlog a few good moments and post that next week for you all!  SacTweetUp hosted it’s first ever scavenger hunt…. and what a HUNT it WAS!!!! The Green Team (us) went to a million different places and ROCKED them all! Our name “COLD HARD GREEN” was echoed throughout Sac by the end of the night. We were given clues on where to go (each team was driven around in a limo…talk about STYLE!) and had to tweet twitpics back to the judges. While we did not win the contest, we all had a blast and I cannot wait for round two!
